Green Bangla Garments Workers Federation
A rally organised by Green Bangla Garments Workers Federation was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Friday. In the programme the leaders of the organisation demanded adequate allocation in the national budget in health services, housing, rationing and transport sectors for the garment employees. The speakers said the country will survive if the labour class people is survived. They urged the government and the other authority concerned to pay attention to the garment employees for building a developed and prosperous Bangladesh. The function was addressed, among others, by President of Workers Party of Bangladesh, Dhaka Mahanagar unit Abul Hosain, Convenor of Nagorik Parishad Mohammad Shamsuddin, President of Bangladesh Garments Textiles Sramik Federation Shamima Akhter Shirin, General Secretary of the federation Mohammad Ilias, its Vice-President Begum Sweety and its Organising Secretary Mohammad Farid Uddin. President of the organisation Sultana Begum presided over the event.
Bangladesh Lions Club
The 22nd annual conference of Bangladesh Lions Club (Lions District 315A1) was held at a hotel in the city on Thursday. Law Minister Anisul Huq was present as the chief guest. While speaking Anisul called upon the members of Bangladesh Lions Club to stand beside the helpless people of the society.”You are responsible partners of society. No development is possible, no challenge can be tackled without your help. So, I would like to call upon you to help the helpless,” the minister added. He said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had started the trend of overall development in the country, which is being maintained by his worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The programme was attended, among others, by former President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Qazi Akram Uddin Ahmed and Sheikh Kabir Hossain. Lion Kolpona Rajiuddin presided over the function.
