Bangladesh Labour Party
A rally organised by Bangladesh Labour Party, Dhaka Mahanagar Dakshin was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Sunday. In the programme the speakers called upon all labour class people to be united to meet its various demands including establishment of their human rights. They also called upon to strengthen the party for the implementation of the perception of the glorious Liberation War. The speakers also demanded trial of those involved in Rana Plaza collapse and adequate compensation to the victims of Rana Plaza collapse. The programme was addressed, among others, by Chairman of the party Dr Mostafizur Rahman Iran, its Secretary General Hamdullah Al Mehedi, its Mahanagar General Secretary Mahamud Khan and Vice-Chairman of the organisation Advocate Faruque Rahman. President of Dhaka Dakhin Labour Party Shamsuddin Parvez presided over the function.
Campaign for Popular Education
An experience sharing meeting on ‘Accountability for SDG-4 and Citizen Participation’ organised jointly by Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) and Citizen Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh was held on Saturday at BRAC Center in the city. Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman was present as the chief guest. While speaking Mostafizur urged all educationists to provide specific guidelines for improving quality of education.”There is no specific measure to evaluate quality of education. So, all education activists should produce clear guidelines to determine standard of education,” he added. Mostafizur said, ‘Bangladesh has made a remarkable progress in student enrolment at primary level which has been lauded globally. We have also achieved a good progress in attaining gender parity and other key indicator of education.’ The minister said we are focusing on improving quality education to create a skilled workforce in the country. Representatives from different government and non-government organisations took part in the open discussion at the session. The function was also addressed, among others, by Member of General Economic Division of Planning Commission Dr Shamsul Alam, Executive Director of CAMPE Rasheda K Choudhury and Executive Director of Manusher Jonno Foundation Shaheen Anam.
