Bangladesh Swatantra Ebtedayee Madrasa Shikshak Samity
A rally organised by Bangladesh Swatantra Ebtedayee Madrasa Shikshak Samity was held in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city on Tuesday. In the rally the speakers demanded to give salary to all teachers of Swatantra Ebtedayee Madrasas in the national pay scale, otherwise they will forge greater movement from May 15 next to realize their demands. Joint Secretary General of the organisation Abu Musa Bhuiyan conducted the rally. The event was addressed, among others, by Secretary General of the samity Kazi Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Vice-President Maulana Nazrul Islam Hiron, Vice-presidents Maulana Mohammad Shahjahan and Organizing Secretary Anisul Islam. President of the organisation Kazi Ruhul Amin Chowdhury presided over the programme.
Nat’l Garments Workers-Employees Fed
A rally organised on the occasion of May Day by National Garments Workers-Employees Federation was held at Purana Palton intersection in the city on Monday. In the rally the speakers called upon the garments owners not to retrench garments employees in the lame excuse. They also demanded introduction of rationing system for the garment employees and controlling house rent. They also urged the authority concerned to give adequate salary in which they can maintain their livelihood easily. The speakers demanded housing facilities for the employees. The programme was also addressed, among others, by lawyer of the Supreme Court Mesbah Uddin Khan, central leaders Jahanara Begum, Fazlur Rahman, Nazma Aktar and Shahid Akand. President of the federation M Delwar Hossain presided over the programme. After the rally a red flag procession paraded different streets of the city.
