University Grants Commission
Asian Development Bank (ADB) has proposed to initiate a project in Bangladesh begining 2019-2020 Financial Year involving 500 million US dollars for strengthening public universities in areas of ICT and science technology. The tenure of the proposed project is expected to be from five to seven years. The project will be implemented in three to five public universities in areas of information technology, high-tech agriculture, marine science, textiles, bio-medical science and other related areas. ADB and UGC will jointly select the universities. The interest was shown when a-three member delegation led by Mr. Sungsup Ra, Director, Human and Social Development Division, South Asia Department, ADB called on Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC at the latter’s office recently . UGC Chairman termed the proposal by the delegation as very positive and said that the proposed project will help achieve the Millinium Development Goals of Bangladesh and immensely contribute to the capacity building of the universities. The University Grants Commission of Bangladesh will extend all necessary co-operations in implementation of the project, he added.
Milestone College
Baisakhi Utsab was held at Milestone College recently . To mark the occasion, Milestone College authorities arranged a discussion and colorful cfultural programme at College Central auditorium on Sunday. Founder and Adviser of Milestone College Colonel Nurun Nabi (Retd.), Principal Prof Md. Shahidul Islam, Administrative Principal Lt. Col M. Kamaluddin Bhuiyan (Retd), Administrative Director Md. Masud Alam and Academic Director Commander F Karim (Retd.), Mohammad Shahjahan Hosen were present in the function. All vice principal, departmental heads, teachers and a large number of students and staff attended the programme.
Institute of Water Modelling
BSMRMU has signed a MoU with IWM (Institute of Water Modelling) with a view to extending the academic activities and to increase the quality of research facilities. The signing ceremony was held at the conference room of the temporary campus of BSMRMU at Pallabi in the city yesterday . Registrar of the University, Cdre M Abidur Rahman on behalf of BSMRMU and Prof Dr. M Monowar Hossain, Executive Director on behalf of IWM signed the MoU. The VC of the university, Rear Admiral A S M Abdul Baten was present as Chief Guest. Treasurer, deans, faculty members and officers of the University attended the programme . By signing the MoU both the organizations will be able to exchange academic information, faculty support and develop the joint collaborative scientific and technological research and publication.
