A rally organised by Green Bangla Garments Workers Federation was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Monday in memory of 12th Spectrum Day. In the programme the speakers demanded adequate compensation to the families of those who were killed and wounded due to Spectrum building collapse. They also demanded of the authority concerned for environment-friendly and safer work places for the garments employees. The programme was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the federation Mohammad Ilias, its Assistant General Secretary Khadiza Rahman, Organising Secretary Farid Uddin, President of the Workers Party of Bangladesh, Dhaka Mahanagar unit Abul Hosain, Chairman of the Coalition of Local NGOs, Bangladesh Harunur Rashid, President of Jatiya Garments and Darji Sramik Jote Abdul Wahed and President of Jago Bangladesh Garments Sramik Federation Baharane Sultan Bahar. President of the organisation Sultana Begum presided over the event.
Awami Swechchhasebak League
A discussion on ‘Mujibnagar Day’ organised by Awami Swechchhasebak League (ASL) was held in front of Awami League central office in the city’s Bangabandhu Avenue on Sunday. Awami League General Secretary and Road Transports and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was present as the chief guest. While speaking Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will ink the Teesta treaty like she signed Ganges water sharing deal. The minister said Teesta Water Sharing Treaty has moved one step forward as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his hope that the treaty will be signed during the tenure of incumbent governments of both the countries. Quader said those who sold their conscience to Pakistan, they will say the country has been sold through signing of the deals with India. “BNP could not achieve anything from India because of their anti-Indian stance. Nothing can be attainted amid enmity,” he said, adding that the incumbent government will achieve everything from India through friendly relations. General Secretary of ASL Pankoj Kumar Debnath conducted the function.
