Bangladesh Jubo Union
A rally organised by Bangladesh Jubo Union, Palton Thana Commiittee was held in front of Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton on Saturday. In the programme the speakers demanded service without bribe. They also demanded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s interference in this regard. The speakers called upon youth society to make the youth rally scheduled to be held on April 20 in front of the Jatiya Press Club a success with a call to want service without bribe. The function was addressed, among others, by President of the organisation Hasan Hafijur Rahman Sohel, Peasants’ leader Zahid Hossain, central leaders of Jubo Union Khan Asaduzzaman Masum, Tridib Saha, President of the organisation, Dhaka Mahanagar Unit Reaz Uddin and its General Secretary Ashikul Islam Jewel, hawkers’ leader Mushfiqul Islam and leader of Khetmajur Samity Arnab Sarker. Acting President of Jubo Union, Palton Thana Committee Nurul Islam Gazi presided over the event.
Bangladesh Chhatra League
A rally organised by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was held in the city’s Shahbagh area on Saturday in protest against communalism, militancy and terrorism. In the rally the leaders of BCL called upon all for waging a mass movement against militancy and terrorism. BCL President Saifur Rahman Sohag told “We, along with the general students and the countrymen will wage a mass movement against terrorism and militancy under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.” He said terrorism is not a problem of Bangladesh alone rather it’s a global crisis. “Every leader and activist of BCL will continue their fight against militancy under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina until the menace is eliminated from society,” he added. Speaking on the occasion, BCL General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain said BCL would never bow down to injustice and never compromise with communal forces. He called upon the all students to remain alert so that none can misguide their friends and fellow students to go in the “accursed path” of militancy. The rally was also addressed, among others, by BCL Dhaka University (DU) Unit President Abid Al Hasan and General Secretary Motahar Hossain Prince.
