Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project
An inaugural ceremony of a two-day orientation workshop on ‘QA Mechanism for Round-4 Universities’ was held at UGC auditorium yesterday. Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC graced the function as the Chief Guest while Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta ndc, Project Director , Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) presided over it. Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Head of Quality Assurance Unit, UGC delivered the welcome address. Prof Mannan, in his speech said that the purpose of IQAC is to enhance the quality of higher education. Laying emphasis on quality assurance cell, he urged the every university to set up IQAC cell at its own responsibility to enhance the standard of tertiary education and continue functioning even after the end of the project. He urged the directors and additional directors of IQAC to maintain minimum standard of quality education at their designated universities so that our graduates can compete in global arena.
Baridhara Society
Baridhara Society celebrated the Independence and National Day-2017 with a fresh vow to uphold the spirit of Liberation War and to build Sonar Bangla recently, says a press release. The programmes include hoisting of national flag, discussion meeting and reception to 15 freedom fighters who are the members of the Society. The freedom fighters who were accorded reception are Md Wakil Uddin, Md Sultan Uddin, Md Ziaur Rahman, Munzur Uddin Ahmed, Khan Mohammad Ektiar Zaman , Col(Retd) Shamsul Haq, Md Kamrul Islam, ASM Firoz, Hasan Abdullah, Mostaque Ahmed Robi, Dr Noor-e-alam Siddique, Mag Gen (Retd) M Abdul Wahab, Md Jinnat Ali, Gazi Mazharul Anwar and Harun-Or-Rashid.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Wednesday said the mass people will defeat in the next general elections the conspirators and their accomplices trying to create instability in the country through militancy. “A vested quarter is plotting against the country and instigating militancy,” he said speaking as the chief guest at a meeting and award giving ceremony at National Public Library auditorium here. Gano Azadi League (GAL) organized the function where 30 personalities, including singers, poets and writers of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendro, were awarded. Sammyobadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua and GAL General Secretary Mohammad Ata Ullha Khan also spoke on the occasion while GAL President SK Shikder was in the chair.
