Bhasani Sahitya-Sangskritik Parishad
A discussion in memory of Language Veteran Kazi Golam Mahbub organised by Bhasani Sahitya-Sangskritik Parishad was held in Jadu Miah Auditorium in the city’s Nayapalton on Sunday on the occasion of his 11th death anniversary. In the programme the speakers called upon all to be united imbued with the perception of glorious Language Movement and the Liberation War. They recalled the contributions of late Golam Mahbub during the Language Movement. The speakers said Golam Mahbub was the leader of renaissance of mass people. They prayed for the salvation of the departed soul. The function was addressed, among others, by Senior Presidium Member of Bangladesh National Awami Party-Bangladesh NAP and language hero Golam Sarwar Khan, Secretary General of Bangladesh NAP M Golam Mostofa Bhuiyan, NDP Presidium Member Manjur Hossain Esha, City Member Secretary of NAP Shahidunnabi Dablu and Coordinator of Jatiya Chhatra Kendra Solaiman Sohel. Convenor of the parishad Matiara Chowdhury Minu presided over the function.
Bangabandhu Research Council
A discussion in observance of the First Armed Resistance Day organised by different organisations including Bangabandhu Research Council, First Armed Resistance Day Celebration Council and Bangladesh Journalist Rights Forum (BJRF) was held on the 18th instant at Bangladesh Press Council. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was present as the chief guest. While speaking Mozammel said the government would take necessary steps to observe March 19 as the First Armed Resistance Day and consider making ‘Joy Bangla’ the national slogan. Terming the 19th March in 1971 as a unique day in the history of country’s Liberation War, the minister said, “Under the directive of Bangabandhu on March 2, we launched the attack on the Pakistani forces on March 19. After the incident, slogans were started to be chanted across the country – ”Go through the path of Joydebpur and do free Bangladesh.” About the role of mass media to build a developed country, the minister said the media people, being imbued with the spirit of Liberation War, can play a very significant role in the greater interest of the country and its people. The function was addressed, among others, by former General Secretary of the Jatiya Press Club Swapon Kumar Saha and President of Bangabandhu Research Council Lion Gani Mian Babul. BJRF President Azizul Islam Bhuiyan presided over the event.
