Bangladesh National Awami Party
A meeting organised by Bangladesh National Awami Party-Bangladesh NAP was held in Jadu Miah Auditorium in the city’s Nayapalton on Sunday. In the programme the speakers said there is no alternative to political unity for eliminating extremism. They urged the government to make necessary steps for national dialogue to build up national unity in resisting militancy. The function was addressed, among others, by Vice-Chairman of NAP Kazi Faruque Hossain, its Joint Secretary General Syed Shajahan Saju, General Secretary Ahsan Habib Khaja, its City Member Secretary Shahidunnabi Dablu, Convenor of Bhasani Sahitya-Sangskritik Parishad Matiara Chowdhury Minu and Joint Convenor of Bangladesh Jubo NAP Zillur Rahman Palash. Secretary General of the organisation M Golam Mostofa Bhuiyan presided over the event.
United Group
The United Group was among the scores of organisations including socio-cultural and juvenile groups, who joined the day-long celebration of the 98th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the greatest leader’s mazar at his birthplace Tungipara under Gopalganj district on Friday.The day was celebrated as the National Children’s Day reminiscing Bangabandhu’s unbounded love for the kids and juveniles. Hundreds of people from all walks of life quite spontaneously joined the occasion that especially marked a photo exhibition on Father of the Nation titled “From Khoka to Bangabandhu.” The United Group sponsored the photo exhibition, which was witnessed by President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Ministers, Members of Parliament as well as the people of all strata on the mazar premises. Bangabandu’s whole career from childhood to matured life was amply displayed through the photo exhibition. The function was also attended by Vice-Chairman of the United Group Abul Kalam Azad and Director Fahad Khan.
Dhaka University Teachers’ Association
President and General Secretary of Dhaka University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal and Professor Dr Md Rahmat Ullah respectively in a statement on Saturday expressed grave concern over the recent turmoil on the campus and urged the authorities concerned to maintain education friendly atmosphere on the campus. In the statement, the DUTA leaders condemned the recent unrest on DU campus over seat allocation at Bijoy Ekattar Hall and strike observed by Home Economics College students in demand for upgrading their college as an institute of Dhaka University. The DUTA also asked all authorities concerned to behave in a responsible manner for maintaining stability and congenial atmosphere on the campuses to consolidate the achievements in education sector in the recent years.
