Bangladesh Hawkers Union
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers Union was held in front of the Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton on Wednesday. In the rally the hawker leaders bitterly criticized eviction of hawkers from footpath. They urged the authority concerned to rehabilitate the hawkers before their eviction. The hawker leaders requested the authority concerned to stop attack on the leaders and activists of the union. The rally was addressed, among others, by labour leader Advocate Mantu Ghosh, advisers of the union Murshiqul Islam Shimul, Hazrat Ali and central leaders of the union Shaheed Khan, Babul and Golap. Convenor of the organisation Abdul Hashem Kabir presided over the function.
Pediatric Nephrology Society
A discussion on ‘Kidney Diseases and Obesity’ organised by Pediatric Nephrology Society of Bangladesh (PNSB) was held recently on the Bot-Tala premises of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the city on the occasion of World Kidney Day. In the programme the speakers called upon all for creating mass awareness to prevent the kidney ailments. They stressed upon preventing child kidney diseases ensuring congenial environment for them, including setting up adequate playground, ensuring hygienic foods and maintaining balanced diet list. They also underscored the need for creating mass awareness to combat the kidney related ailments. The function was addressed, among others, by BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, BSMMU Pro-VC (Research and Development) Professor Dr Md Shahidullah Shikder, its Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed, former VC Professor Dr Md Shahidullah, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Ali Asgar Moral, President of PNSB Professor Dr Md Hanif and Secretary General Professor Dr Md Habibur Rahman. Later, a rally was brought out from the Bot-Tala premises and paraded main streets of the campus.
