Bangladesh Assistant Primary Teachers’ Society
A press conference organised by Bangladesh Assistant Primary Teachers’ Society was held in the Moitree Auditorium of Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton on Sunday to meet its various demands including fixation of the pay scale of the assistant primary teachers. In the programme the teachers expressed their solidarity with the demands. The programme was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of Bangladesh Primary Assistant Teachers’ Foundation Mokammel Hossain, General Secretary of the organisation Mohammad Halimuzzaman and President of the organisation Shahinur-al-Amin. In the function the leaders of the teachers’ society said that good environment should be established in the workplaces of the teachers.
Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee
A discussion and worshipping on the occasion of Dol Purnima, a religious festival of the Hindu community organised by Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee was held on Sunday at the Dhakeshwari National Temple in the city. Thousands of Hindu community members celebrated Holi, a religious festival of colours on the occasion. The festival began in the morning and continued till afternoon. It also lasts for two days starting on the Purnima in several parts of the country. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive and repair broken relationships and is also celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest. As a ritual in celebration of the festival, the devotees visited the shrines, temples and offer colours at the feet of Idol of the God Sri Krishna and Goddess Sri Radhika. In accordance with mythology, Dol Purnima also known as Dol Jatra or Holi, is regarded as the festival of the believers of Boishnobism. Besides, marking the festival, the entire Dhaka University campus wore a festive look as hundreds of youths irrespective of religion, caste and creed celebrated the festival with different colors. At Jagannath Hall, students were seen celebrating the festival colouring the fellow devotees and taking their photographs and selfies.
