Youth Ending Hunger-BD
Several organisations including Youth Ending Hunger-Bangladesh, Peoples University of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh University jointly formed an hour-long human chain programme on Monday in the city’s Asad Avenue. In the programme the speakers demanded immediate arrest and trial of the killers of Professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee, a teacher of English Department of Rajshahi University.They asked the question ‘Why this innocent professor had to face a brutal killing’? He (Rezaul) neither had a facebook nor a blog account, while he had never made any extreme comments against any religion. They said he had only written some small essays, rhymes and film reviews and those were hardly published in any major media. So, the motive behind the killing is not clear. If a liberal teacher like Siddiquee was not safe at the hands of such criminals what would happen to others, they questioned.
BD Crop Protection Association
Ruman Hafiz of Shetu Corporation Limited and Md Moazzem Hossain Palash of Assign Crop Care Limited have been elected as Chairman and Secretary General respectively of Bangladesh Crop Protection Association (BCPA). They were elected at the 36th Annual General Meeting of the BCPA, which was held at the Convention Hall of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in the city. The other office-bearers of the newly-elected committee included Md Sadiqul Islam of Sara Chemicals Limited-Vice Chairman; M Marufuzzaman Tutul of Gurpukur Corporation-Joint Secretary General; Md Abdul Alim of Padma Agro Sprayers Co-Organizing Secretary; M. Nasir Uddin Ahmed of Marshal Agrovet Chemical Industries Limited-Publicity Secretary; Pankaj Gilbert Costa of SAMP Limited-Treasurer. The executive committe members are: Kazi Luthfor Rahman of McDonald Crop Care Limited; Mahbub Rahman of Syngenta Bangladesh Limited; Partha Sharathi Roy of Petrochem (Bangladesh) Limited; Md Ayub Ali, Partex Agro Limited and Md Shamsul Alam Akanda of Clean Agro.
