Bishwa Bangalee Sammelon
A discussion on International Mother Language Day organised jointly by different organisations including Bishwa Bangalee Sammelon, Dakshin Asia Sahitya Sangskriti Parishad, Bishwa Kabita Congress and Bangladesh Jatiya Byaktitya Gabeshona Kendra was held on Sunday in the auditorium of Sangskriti Bikash Kendra in the city’s Paribag. In the programme the speakers demanded to introduce Bangla language as the official language of the United Nations. The musical programme and recitation from the poem were also held on the occasion. Chairman of Bangladesh Press Council Mohammad Momtajuddin Ahmed inaugurated the discussion. The function was addressed, among others, by former representative of the United Nations Dr AK Abdul Momen, former Chief Justice M Tafazzal Islam, journalist Abdur Rashid Chowdhury, General Secretary of Bishwa Bangalee Sammelon, Kushtia district unit Dr Mohammad Tajuddin, Joint Secretary General of the sammelon Prof MA Rakib Khan, Secretary General of Bishwa Kabita Congress Poet M Ali Ahmed and President of Bangabandhu Adarsha Bastobayon Parishad Abdur Razzak Shakil. President of Bishwa Bangalee Sammelon and Dakshin Asia Sahitya Sangskriti Parishad Poet Muhammad Abdul Khaleque presided over the event.
Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad
A memorial meeting on veteran parliamentarian late Suranjit Sengupta organised jointly by Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad and Mahanagar Sarbojonin Puja Udjapon Committee was held on Saturday at Dhakeshwari National Temple in the city. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim reiterated that the next general election will be held under the incumbent government in line with the country’s Constitution. He categorically said, “Whatever the rumour may be, we won’t breach the option of the Constitution anyhow.” Recalling the contribution of Suranjit in different crucial moments in country’s political arena, Nasim said the loss at the death of him (Suranjit) is really irreparable. “We have many things to learn from Suranjit, a veteran parliamentarian,” he mentioned. The programme was also addressed, among others, by former minister and Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, lawmakers Panchanan Biswas, Hazi Mohammad Selim and Pankaj Debnath. Sowmen Sengupta, son of veteran politician Suranjit Sengupta also spoke on the occasion. President of the organisation DN Chatarjee presided over the function.
