Bangladesh Jubo NAP
A discussion on the occasion of International Mother Language Day was held in Jadu Miah Auditorium in the city’s Nayapalton on Saturday. In the programme the speakers recalled the contribution of the leader of toiling masses Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani. They said the history of glorious Language Movement without Bhasani is incomplete. Maulana Bhasani played pioneering role in every step of the Language Movement since 1948. The programme was addressed, among others, by Presidium member of Bangladesh NAP and language veteran Golam Sarwar Khan, NAP Organising Secretary Mohammad Kamal Bhuiyan, Joint Coordinator of Jubo NAP Abdullah Al Kawsari, Joint Coordinator of Chhatra Kendra Sohel Rana, Jubo NAP leaders Abdul Halim, Mobarak Hossain and Sahida Akhtar. Joint Coordinator of the organisation Zillur Rahman Palash presided over the function.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote
A discussion marking the 75th birth anniversary of eminent nuclear scientist late Dr. Wazed Miah organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote was held at Shilpakala Academy in the city’s Segunbagicha on Friday. Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr. Hassan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hassan said like in other democratic countries of the world, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will remain head of the government during the next parliamentary polls. He paid rich tributes to late Dr. Wazed Miah and said naming the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant after him would be discussed in the party meeting. Hassan said the BNP has been isolated from the people because of its wrong politics of not joining the last general election. It seems that the BNP will not commit this type of suicidal mistake in future, he added. The former minister said the next election will be held on time. It will not wait for none, he said. The programme was addressed, among others, by AL Dhaka City South General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, World University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Vice-President Dr. Enamul Huq, Shilpakala Academy Director General Liaqat Ali Lucky and AL leader Baloram Poddar. President of the jote Syed Hassan Imam presided over the event.
