BD Hawkers’ Coordination Council
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers’ Coordination Council was held on the premises of Ramna Bhaban in the city on Thursday. While speaking the speakers said that they would cooperate all the development activities of DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon if he takes step to stop eviction of hawkers from footpath. They demanded rehabilitation of the hawkers before their eviction. The council also brought out a procession in the city to meet their demands. The hawkers’ leaders also warned to forge greater movement if their demand is not met immediately. The rally was addressed, among others, by hawkers’ leaders Kamal Siddiqui, Harun-or-Rashid, Arif Chowdhury, Sarder Khorshed, Saijuddin Miah, Khairul Bashar and Abdul Mannan. The speakers called upon all the leaders and activists of the council to join the demonstration rally to be held in front of the Chhinnamul Hawkers’ Samity Office in the city’s Gulistan at 11 am tomorrow to meet their demands. Coordinator of Bangladesh Hawkers’ Coordination Council Abul Hossain presided over the event.
Amra Manush Foundation
A programme titled ‘Listen to the History of Freedom’ organised by ‘Amra Manush Foundation’was held in the city’s BAF Shaheen School on Monday. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was present as the chief guest. While speaking Inu said that the land and water of Bangladesh is written in the blood of martyrs, the sound of gun fire and the voice of a persecuted people. Inu said that the country’s liberation was attained by the great leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He also said that millions of martyrs, the cries of the many more who were persecuted and the women that were tortured created the tapestry that is independent Bangladesh. He paid his tributes to all those who had sacrificed for the freedom of the motherland. Inu told the students there were people against us also during the Liberation War. Some criminals had dared to betray the nation and collaborated with the occupying Pakistani forces. He said that these collaborators were the ones who had now turned into militants. He asked the children to hate them and also refuse the allure of drugs. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Rashek Rahman, the organizer of the function, Ali Hasan Alam, Managing Director of PRAN Group and other eminent citizens. Principal of the school Group Captain Mohammad Ahsan presided over the event.
