Anirban ’71
A discussion in observance of the 45th anniversary of the first Bangladesh government, the ‘Mujibnagar Government’ organised by Anirban ’71, a non-government organisation was held on Friday at the Liberation War Museum in the city’s Segunbagicha. Prime Minister’s Political Adviser HT Imam was present as the chief guest. While speaking Imam said there would be no place for those on the sacred soils of Bangladesh who don’t believe in Bangabandhu and the spirit of the Liberation War. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Prime Minister’s Adviser on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Dr Toufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury (Bir Bikram), Mahbududdin Ahmed (Bir Bikram) and Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed’s daughter Mahjabin Ahmed Mimi. Barrister Amir-ul-Islam, one of the architects of the Mujibnagar Government presided over the event.

Dhaka North & South City AL
Newly elected leaders of Dhaka North and South City Awami League on Friday paid rich tributes to former President of Dhaka City Awami League and first elected Mayor of Dhaka late Mohammad Hanif and former Acting President of Dhaka City AL late MA Aziz. The new leaders of Dhaka North City AL led by its President AKM Rahmatullah, MP and General Secretary Sadek Khan and President and General Secretary of Dhaka South City AL Abul Hasnat and Shahe Alam Murad respectively placed wreaths at the late two leaders’ graves. Party leaders and workers including the newly elected presidents and general secretaries of all thanas, wards and unions of the city committees were present on the occasion.
