Bangladesh Hawkers Union
A demonstration rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers Union was held at the Purana Palton Intersection in the city on Tuesday. In the programme the speakers demanded rehabilitation of hawkers before their eviction. They called upon all hawkers to be united to meet their demands. The leaders urged the authority concerned to meet their demands without any delay, otherwise they will forge greater movement to meet their demands. The rally was addressed, among others, by hawkers’ leaders Sekendar Hayat, Shafiqur Rahman Babul, Mollika Begum, Jashim Uddin, Ali Ahmed, Abdus Shahid and Mohammad Hanif. The hawkers leaders also warned they would not leave the street till their demands are not met. They called upon all the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Hawkers Union to attend the today’s demonstration rally. Convenor of the organisation Abdul Hashem Kabir presided over the function.
IBA Alumni Association
The golden jubilee celebration of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University organised by IBA Alumni Association was held on the 21st instant in the city’s Army Museum. Jatiya Sangsad Speaker and Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was present as the chief guest. While speaking Dr Shirin said the Institute of Business Administration can play a very significant role to develop skilled manpower for ensuring country’s overall progress.”The IBA plays a vital role in developing skilled manpower in economic, social, political and commercial sectors to ensure overall progress of the country,” she added. The Speaker said there is no alternative to specialized education in the era of globalization and IBA continued playing a very positive role as a centre of excellence of trade and commerce. Dr Chaudhury urged all to work together by using the ultra-modern technologies to remove all sorts of economic discrimination and materialize the dreams of mass people.The programme was addressed, among others by IBA Director Professor AKM Saiful Islam Majid and General Secretary M Rafiqul Islam. President of IBA Alumni Association Nazmul Hasan, MP, presided over the event.
