Bangladesh Pathnatok Parishad
A discussion organised by Bangladesh Pathnatok Parishad was held at the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the city on Thursday. In the programme the speakers demanded exemplary punishment to those involved in killing of Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a student of Comilla Victoria College. A drama was also staged protesting the killing of Tonu. The programme was addressed, among others, by President of ITI Bishwa Kendra and eminent dramatist Ramendu Majumder, dramatist Mamunur Rashid, General Secretary of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Hasan Arif, Secretary General of Bangladesh Group Theater Federation Akhtaruzzaman and General Secretary of Bangladesh Pathnatok Parishad Ahmed Gias. President of the parishad Abdul Mannan Hira presided over the event.
Real Estate & Housing Assoc of BD
A meeting organised by Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) was held on Thursday at the office of National Board of Revenue (NBR) in the city. In the meeting speakers demanded of the government to reduce VAT (Value Added Tax), tax and registration cost and fix the rates at 7 per cent to accelerate the business as well as growth in the economy. They also demanded opportunity for investing the undisclosed money in the housing sector without raising any question to prevent money laundering. While speaking NBR Chairman M Nojibur Rahman assured REHAB leaders that necessary measures in this regard would be taken. Among others, NBR member (Customs policy) M Farid Uddin, Member (VAT policy) Barrister Jahangir Hossain and REHAB President Alamgir Shamsul Alamin were present in the meeting.
