A view exchange meeting organised by Police Women Welfare Society (PWWS), Rangpur unit was held on Thursday at ‘Buddhi Protibondhi O Autism Special School’ in Rangpur to distribute education and sports inputs among intellectually disabled students. In the programme speakers affirmed that the autistic, mentally retarded and disabled children deserved their proper constitutional rights, but not mercy, and they should enjoy all privileges and human rights. They added intellectually disabled children are not burden of the society and they can bring glory and success for the nation if proper care and supports were provided in flourishing their inherent talents and abilities. The function was addressed, among others, by PWWS leader Chowdhury Noorjahan Manjur, Additional Police Supers ABM Zakir Hossain and Saifur Rahman, Member of Central Executive Committee of SWID Bangladesh Shushanto Bhowmik and Headmistress of the school Krishna Bhowmik. President of the organisation Mrs Nasrine Zeba presided over the event. A large number of the autistic children and their parents attended the function.

A warm cloth distribution ceremony organised by Dhaka South City Awami League was held in front of the party central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city on Thursday marking the 3rd anniversary of Awami League (AL) Government. Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was present as the chief guest. While speaking Quader urged the party leaders and activists across the country to stand beside the cold-hit people. “I, on behalf of the party president, have asked all leaders and activists to distribute warm cloths among the cold-hit people to serve the humanity. Help the poor people by giving them warm cloths instead of money,” he said. In the function a large number of cold-hit poor people were given warm cloths. The minister said the AL-led government has done an envious development in the last 8 years. No government could match the development of the AL government in 26 years after the assassination of Bangabandhu, he added. President of the organisation Abul Hasnat presided over the function.
