Dhaka Journalists’ Association
A discussion organised by Dhaka Journalists’ Association (DJA) marking its first founding anniversary and a reception accorded to newly elected President of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Shaban Mahmud was held on Wednesday in the Hall Room of Jatiya Press Club. Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking Shajahan said Pakistan has still been conspiring against Bangladesh as it could not forget its defeat in the War of Liberation in 1971. About the journalists, the minister said, ‘I am not giving any lesson or advice to our newsmen. But, no news should be presented before fully confirming the authenticity of the news item’. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Advocate Sanjida Khanam, MP, Secretary General of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Omar Faruque and President of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Shaban Mahmud. DJA President Shahrun Islam Pinu presided over the function.
