Jatiya Sramik League
A discussion organised by Jatiya Sramik League, Dhaka South unit marking the Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was held at the Awami League office in the city’s Bangabandhu Avenue on Sunday. In the programme Joint General Secretary of Awami League Mahabub-ul-Alam Hanif was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hanif urged Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) not to mislead the people by resorting to falsehood for creating instability in the country. Hanif said the nation has now become united against terrorism and sabotage and reposed confidence on the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said the BNP has taken the path of remaining silent when it wins the polls and making Election Commission (EC) controversial when it suffers defeat in the election. The function was also addressed, among others, by Awami League Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Jatiya Sramik League acting President Fazlul Haq Montu and its General Secretary M Sirajul Islam.
Bangabandhu Gabeshona & Prokashana Parishad
A twenty-five member new executive committee of Bangabandhu Gabeshona & Prokashana Parishad (BGPP) for the year 2017 was formed at a restaurant in the city on Sunday. Alhaj Nasir Ullah Bhuiyan and Advocate Mohammad Mukhlesur Rahman Patwary have been elected President and General Secretary respectively of the BGPP. The other office-bearers of the committee are M Nurul Islam Talukder (Senior Vice-President), M Aminul Bahar (Vice-President), M Mosharraf Hossain (Vice-President), M Harun-Ar-Rashid (Joint General Secretary), Advocate M Shafiuzzaman Bhuiyan Shawpan (Joint General Secretary) and Mohammad Ruman Shah Alam (Organizing Secretary).
