Jatiya Ganotantrik League
A rally organised jointly by Jatiya Ganotantrik League and NAP Bhasani was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday in observance of Democracy Protection Day. In the programme the speakers said those who believes in communalism without abiding by constitution, election, democracy and rule of law are the enemies of the country. They urged the people to be united being inspired with the perception of the liberation war for the development of Bangladesh with the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The speakers called upon all to resist militancy, terrorism and communalism for the greater interest of the nation. The function was addressed, among others, by Vice-President of the Jatiya Press Club Managing Committee Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Publicity Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad Matiur Rahman Laltu, General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana, Awami League leader MA Karim, Publicity Secretary of Bangabandhu Shishi Kishore Mela Ananda Sen and President of Jatiya Ganotantrik League MA Jalil. Chairman of NAP-Bhasani Mostak Ahmed Bhasani presided over the event.
WaterAid Bangladesh
A modern public toilet was launched at a function organised by WaterAid Bangladesh in association with Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) at Muktangon Park in the city on Thursday. DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon inaugurated this modern sanitation facility funded by H&M Foundation.DSCC councillor, ward-13 Mostoba Zaman Popi, councillor, ward-13, 19 and 20 Syeda Roksana Islam Chamely and M Liakath Ali, Director-Programmes and Policy Advocacy, WaterAid Bangladesh were also present on the occasion. While speaking Khokon said, “We have taken a project to build 100 public toilets. Several of those will be built in association with WaterAid.” He hoped this toilets will meet the necessity of public toilets at Gulistan region. Khokan said the initiative would be continued and hoped “the public toilet building project would be completed by 2017.” Liakath said, “Clean public toilets are a dire necessity in ensuring public health”.
City Corporation, WaterAid and H&M Foundation have jointly brought these facility for the commuters. The maintenance will be ensured under the public leaders.These modern toilets are equipped with facilities including separate chamber for male and female, locker, hand washing point, shower, safe drinking water facility, 24×7 electricity, CCTV camera, professional cleaner and female caretakers.
