A discussion on Victory Day organised by Muktijoddha Foundation (MF) was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Saturday. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim urged BNP to take lessons from Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls.”NCC election proved that a fair and credible election is possible under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he told. The minister said all elections under the incumbent government were held in a free, fair and credible manner. Referring to the NCC polls, he said, “Awami League has achieved another victory during the Victory Month. It’s a triumph of Sheikh Hasina indeed.” The programme was addressed, among others, by former Additional Inspector General of Police Dr MA Rahim Khan, former student leader and freedom fighter Habibur Rahman Khan, MF General Secretary Tofazzel Hossain and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana. Principal Gazi Delwar Hossain presided over the event.
Bangladesh Law Association
The 31st annual conference of Bangladesh Law Association (BLA) was held on Science Annex premises of Dhaka University on the 23rd instant. Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury was present as the chief guest. While speaking Shirin said the students of law departments across the country are making significant contributions to taking the nation forward. She said the former students of the law departments are working for the country from different fields including judiciary, enacting of law and administration. Terming Bangladesh as a role model of development, Shirin urged all engaged in legal profession to work together for turning Bangladesh into a middle income country by 2021 under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The function was addressed, among others, by State Minister for Labour and Manpower M Mujibul Haq Chunnu and State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Advocate Tarana Halim. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the conference. President of the association Dr Khan Mohammad Abdul Mannan presided over the function.
