Grambangla Unnayan Committee
A discussion organised jointly by Grambangla Unnayan Committee (GUC) and Bangladesh Human Rights Journalists Forum was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city’s Segunbagicha on Thursday. In the programme the speakers called upon all to come forward to protect human rights of waste pickers and children. They also urged government to take necessary measures for ensuring the human rights of the waste pickers. The function was addressed, among others, by Chief Executive of GUC AKM Maksud Ahmed, journalist Salim Samad, Khairuzzaman Kamal and GUC official Saima Sayeed.
GreenTech Foundation, Bangladesh
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the GreenTech Foundation, Bangladesh and Dhaka University (DU) at the Vice-Chancellor’s office. Treasurer of DU Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin and Executive Director of GreenTech Foundation Lutfor Rahman signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institution.Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Director of IBA Prof Dr AKM Saiful Majid, Director of IE Prof Dr Saiful Huque, Chairman of GreenTech Foundation Bangladesh Dr Abdul Majid, Vice-Chairman Pradip Kumar Dutta and Acting Registrar of DU Md Enamuzzaman were present, among others. Dhaka University and GreenTech Foundation, Bangladesh would work together to develop renewable energy technology in the country under the agreement. The collaborative initiatives include-conducting joint research activities on various environmental issues including renewable energy, green technology and low-carbon development. Besides, the two institutions will jointly organize workshop, seminar, symposium, conference and roundtable discussion on renewable energy, green industrialization and various environmental issues.
