Awami Swechchhasebak League
A discussion on glorious Victory Day organised by Awami Swechchhasebak League was held at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city on the 18th instant. Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader was present as the chief guest. While speaking Quader said that BNP should accept President’s decision on formation of EC. The minister said that the word of democracy doesn’t suit in the lips of Begum Khaleda Zia as BNP joined the last parliament only 45 days out of the total 169 days while the BNP Chairperson joined only five days. The function was addressed, among others, by Awami League Organising Secretary Khalid Mohammad Chowdhury, MP, Vice-Presidents of Swechchhasebak League Nirmal Ranjan Guho and Motiur Rahman, organisation’s Women Affairs Secretary Umme Razia Kajol, Organising Secretaries Sohel Rana Tipu and Sazzad Sakib Badsha. President of the organisation Mollah Md Abu Kawsar presided over the event.

Aviation & Tourism Journalists Forum
A workshop on ‘Role of Journalists in Rebuilding Tourism Image Under Present Situation’ organised by Aviation and Tourism Journalists Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB) was held in a city hotel. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon was present as the chief guest. While speaking Menon urged media to play a pivotal role to help flourishing the country’s tourism industry through branding Bangladesh. He said that country’s tourism sector has immense potentiality, but it is needed to be nurtured constructively and the media could spearhead to do it. Terming the tourism sector as a “smokeless industry”, Menon said cent percent income from this sector remains in the country. He said though Bangladesh is yet to become a single country destination for tourism but it has been recognized as a tourism country globally.The programme was addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) Chief Executive Officer Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) Chairman Aparup Chowdhury, leaders of ATJFB and Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) President Taufiq Uddin Ahmed.
