A discussion organised by Awami Muktijoddha Projanmo League marking the Victory Day was held on Sunday at the Jatiya Press Club auditorium. Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said BNP wanted to ensure their victory before election. “When BNP lose any election, it raises different questions to make the polls controversial, but if they win, it never say anything,” the Awami League (AL) leader said. Hasan said BNP should change their mindset to give the democracy an institutional shape. The AL leader also demanded of bringing BNP to justice on charge of killing innocent people by hurling petrol bombs on buses and trucks and damaging public property under an orchestrated plot to oust the elected government and destroy the democracy. The programme was addressed, among others, by AL Central Working Committee member and Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, Adviser of the organisation Syeda Rokeya Begum and Dhaka City South Jubo League former Convener Minhaj Uddin Mintu. President of Awami Muktijoddha Projanmo League Md Asaduzzaman Durjoy presided over the function.

A discussion on the occasion of Victory Day organised by Jatiya Party (JP) was held in the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh in the city’s Kakrail on Sunday. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim urged BNP to accept the decision of the President on the formation of the search committee for constituting the next Election Commission (EC). “The decision which would be given by the President on forming the search committee would be accepted by the Awami League and the 14-party alliance. We hope you [BNP] will accept it without creating any trouble,” said the minister. Nasim said the next election would be held in 2019 under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and urged BNP to participate in the election. The programme was also addressed, among others, by General Secretary of Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal Dilip Barua and JP’s Secretary General Sheikh Shahidul Islam. JP Chairman and Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju presided over the function.
