Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal
A view-exchange meeting organised by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) was held at Kushtia Circuit House on Saturday. Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu was present as the chief guest on the occasion. While speaking Inu said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is now shedding crocodile tears for democracy. “Begum Khaleda Zia is trying to practice democracy again but they have no right to exercise democracy as they are involved in killing, terrorism and corruption,” he said. The programme was attended, among others, by Superintendent of Police Proloy Chisim and President of JSD Golam Mohsin.
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
A views exchange meeting in observance of World Human Rights Day was held at Sufia Kamal Bhaban of the parishad in the city. In the programme the speakers bitterly criticized the violence against women and children. They urged all from all walks of life to come forward to resist the violence against women and children. The speakers also urged the government to take necessary steps against those involved in the heinous crimes. The programme was addressed, among others, by Director of the Legal Advocacy Advocate Maksuda Akhtar, Director of the National Legal Aid Services Malik Abdullah Al Amin, Additional Police Commissioner, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Jamil Ahmed and Deputy Police Commissioner, Women Support and Investigation Division, DMP Farida Yasmin. President of the parishad, central committee Ayesha Khanom presided over the function.
Corruption Prevention Committee
A human chain against corruption organised jointly by Corruption Prevention Committee and Conscious Citizen Committee (CCC), Jamalpur was held recently at Bakultala area in Jamalpur to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day. In the programme the speakers stressed mass awareness among the people to prevent corruption in the society.They said people should come forward to prevent corruption for the development of the country. The function was addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Shahabuddin Khan as the chief guest, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rawnak Jahan and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Md Rasel Sabrin. A procession led by Deputy Commissioner was brought out from Bakultala and ended at the premises of Deputy Commissioner’s office.
