Jhenidah Journalists Forum
A full-fledged Jhenidah Journalists Forum (JJF) was formed at a meeting held at its temporary office in the city’s Purana Palton on Saturday. In the meeting Kazi Abdul Hannan (Daily Observer) and Mehedi Hasan Palash (Inqilab) have been made President and General Secretary respectively. The other office-executives are: Vice-President-Ashraful Islam (Ittefaq), Joint General Secretary-Ziaur Rahman (Financial Express), Finance Secretary-Shahnaj Begum Poly (Inqilab), Office Secretary-SM Shakhwat Hussain (Islamicnews24.net, Organising Secretary-Mizanur Rahman (Banglar Dak), Publicity Secretary-Yunus Ali (DBC TV) and Assistant Publicity Secretary-Raju Ahmed. Executive Members are: Sushil Chowdhury (The New Nation), Kazi Kamrul Hasan Don (Samprotik Deshkal), Zahid Hasan Benu (Naya Diganta), Jewel Mahmud (Inqilab) and Khalilur Rahman (Jugantor). Prior to this Munshi Abdul Mannan (Inqilab), Khairul Alam Bakul and Saiful Islam (Naya Diganta) were nominated as the advisers of JJF.
Sachetan Nagorik Samaj
A discussion to create social awareness against corruption organised jointly by ‘Sachetan Nagorik Samaj (SNS), Rangpur district combined office of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) was held recently at the Public Library ground in Rangpur. In the programme the speakers stressed on engaging comprehensive efforts of all concerned to create adequate awareness among the common people to launch an effective social movement for building a corruption-free society. They called upon everybody to begin the campaign from own home and bring up the next generations with all human virtues, qualities and patriotic zeal for ultimately building a society free from the social disease. “We have to develop habit of telling the truth as telling a lie is also corruption,” they said putting emphasis on disseminating anti-corruption sentiment among the common people, students and young generations to build a corruption-free society. The function was addressed, among others by Deputy Commissioner, Rangpur Rahat Anwar, Deputy Director of district combined office of ACC Mozahar Ali Sarder and President of SNS Mosfeka Razzaque.
