Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
A views exchange meeting in observance of World Human Rights Day was held at Sufia Kamal Bhaban of the parishad in the city on Wednesday. In the programme the speakers bitterly criticized the violence against women and children. They urged all from all walks of life to come forward to resist the violence against women and children. The speakers also urged the government to take necessary steps against those involved in the heinous crimes. The programme was addressed, among others, by Director of the Legal Advocacy Advocate Maksuda Akhtar, Director of the National Legal Aid Services Malik Abdullah Al Amin, Additional Police Commissioner, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Jamil Ahmed and Deputy Police Commissioner, Women Support and Investigation Division, DMP Farida Yasmin. President of the parishad, central committee Ayesha Khanom presided over the function.
Sammilita Sangskritik Jote
A condolence meeting on death of Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Mahabubul Haque Shakil organised by Sammilita Sangskritik Jote was held at its office in the city on Wednesday. In the programme the speakers expressed deep condolence over the death of Shakil. They observed one minute silence on his memory. The speakers prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and extended profound sympathy to the bereaved family members. The meeting was addressed, among others, by noted drama personality Nasir Uddin Yusuf, Poet Dr Muhammad Samad and General Secretary of the organisation Hasan Arif. President of the jote Golam Quddus presided over the programme.
