Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote
A discussion marking the historic Mujibnagar Day organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote was held on Friday at Shilpakala academy in the city’s Segunbagicha.
Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of the ruling Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said those who criticise observance of the Bangla Nababarsha, Pahela Baishakh (New Year), are the possessors of the conscience of fanaticism.”They (critics of Pahela Baishakh) are bankrupt in their conscience and they have conceived such a conscience from fanaticism,” he added. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Dhaka City Awami League leader Faezuddin Miah and General Secretary of the organisation and actress Falguni Hamid. President of the organisation and film actor Faruque presided over the discussion.

The students, teachers and employees of Northbengal Institute of Development Studies (NIDS) College celebrated ‘Pahela Baishakh’, the first day of Bengali New Year-1423, on its campus in Rangpur amid huge enthusiasm and traditional festivities on Thursday. To celebrate the auspicious event befittingly in line with rich Bengali culture, authority of the institution chalked out day-long colourful programmes. The programmes included ‘Pantha-Bhat’ festival in the morning, discussion on importance and effect of ‘Pahela Baishakh’ on the whole Bengali Nation, its culture and heritage for many centuries, and colourful cultural functions.
