Awami Motor Driver League
A discussion organised by Awami Motor Driver League was held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in the city on Friday commemorating Shaheed Nur Hossain. Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was present as the chief guest. While speaking Quader said transport workers were the worst sufferers of sabotage and arson attacks perpetrated by BNP-Jamaat in the name of movement during the last general election. “Anti-liberation force, BNP-Jamaat not only hatched conspiracy to kill bus drivers but also democracy through carrying out arson attacks,” he told. Quader called upon the people to remain united under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to save democracy. The function was addressed, among others, by AL Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Prime Minister’s Assistant Private Secretary Saifuzzaman Shekhor. President of the organisation and Shaheed Nur Hossain’s brother Ali Hossain presided over the event.
Swadhinata Shikshak Parishad
A discussion on ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ organised by Swadhinata Shikshak Parishad’, a pro-liberation teachers association of the Khulna University (KU) was held on Friday in the Liakat Ali auditorium of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Basu Academic Building of the university. Prime Minister’s Political Advisor HT Imam was present as the chief guest. While speaking Imam urged the teachers, students and employees of the university to work together under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He said after the independence, Bangabandhu was leading the nation by undertaking important reconstruction works of a ravaged country. But the anti-liberation forces had killed Bangabandhu and most of his family members on August 15, 1975. The function was also addressed, among others by Vice-Chancellor of KU Prof Dr. Fayequzzaman, Treasurer Khan Atiar Rahman and leaders of the parishad. President of the organisation Prof Dr. Anirban Mostofa presided over the event.
