Muktijuddher Chetona Bastobayon Mancha
A discussion on ‘Unity against National and Internal War Crimes, Militancy, Terrorism and Fanaticism’ organised by Muktijuddher Chetona Bastobayon Mancha was held at Barisal Circuit House on Sunday. Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking Shajahan said like the killers of 1971 and subsequently murderers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami will be tried for their terrorist activities and mass killings during the four-party alliance government. “Country will be made free from sins by ensuring trial of all terrorist acts and mass-killings during the BNP-Jamaat rule,” he added. The minister alleged that Pakistan government hatched a deep-rooted conspiracy to destroy Bangladesh in many ways but they were not successful as the mass people foiled their ill-attempts unitedly. The programme was addressed, among others, by Vice-Chairman of Muktijoddha Sangsad Command Council (MSCC) Mohammad Ismat Kadir Gama, Convener of Muktijoddha Command, Barisal city unit Mokhlesur Rahman and local Awami League leaders and representatives of journalist community. Veteran freedom fighter KSA Mohiuddin Manik presided over the function.
Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association
A discussion organised by Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association was held in the city on Sunday. In the programme the association has reached a consensus to cut the prices of gold by maximum Taka 991 per bhori-11.664 grams- to adjust the prices of the precious metal with the international market. According to the decision of the association, per bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat or the best quality gold will now cost Tk 45,898 against Tk 46,889, 21-carat will cost Tk 43,857 against Tk 44,673 and 18-carat will cost Tk 37,908 against Tk 38,491. In traditional system, the rate of a bhori of gold will be Tk 25,020 against Tk 26,010. Although the gold price witnessed a fall, the price of silver has increased by Tk 117 to Tk 1050 from Tk 933.
