Save The Environment Movement
A leading environmental group namely Save The Environment Movement observed that the little or no implementation of anti-polythene drive has been bringing back the uses of polythene shopping bags again in the country. The organisation on Sunday said the very production, uses, storages and marketing of thin polythene bags was banned under a law in 2002, relieving country from a major environmental disaster. But, it said, the recent production and uses of polythene bags has turned into an epidemic form and put the hard-earned national achievement at a stake or on the verge of collapse. The country has been witnessing not only the uses of thin transparent polythene bags everywhere, but also the illegal imports of poly propylene. Polythene, which is not biodegradable, caused a major havoc to the nature and environment in the country and is dubbed as the key factor for clogging in sewerage lines.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal
Information Minister and also President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Hasanul Haq Inu said that the present government has been successful to resist the anti-country terrorists and militants with an iron hand. The minister said this on Sunday at a meeting organised by JSD at Narail. He said that the razakars (collaborators of Pakistan army in 1971) and militants could not be saved through arson attacks or any sort of terrorist activities. Referring to the recent attacks in Nasirnagar and Gobindaganj, the minister said the identified terrorist clique has launched the attacks at the directive of high-ups to malign the image of the government. The terrorists are not only attacking the Hindus but also on Islamic personalities like the pirs and imams of mosques, he added.
