A roundtable meeting titled ‘Responsibilities to Prevent Children Injury’ organised by the Center for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB) was held at the VIP Lounge of the Jatiya Press Club in the city. Health and Family Welfare Minister and also Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim urged the people from all walks of life to come forward for making a resistance against child abuse. “No politics should be done using child abuse when it should be sighted with human vision,” he added. The minister also urged the parents to nurture their children properly and asked to groom them as the wealth of the country. The function was organised aiming at formulating policies and programnmes to bring people into practice to prevent the child injury.
Youth Initiative Against Communalism
A rally organised by Youth Initiative Against Communalism (YIAC) was held recently at Cheragi Pahar area in Chittagong. In the programme the speakers said that the incident at Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria was orchestrated by political intention and international incitement.”The incident is not mere a communal attack which was foamed up by political and international incitement and such attacks of religious hatred would recur as long as religion is used in politics in the country”, they added. The speakers said, “Though Awami League, which led country’s independence war, is in state power, we cannot but experience the incidents in Ramu and Nasirnagar, resulted from inclusion of Jamaat in different political parties and law-enforcing agencies.
They called upon all to stand in one single political platform in order to resist communal forces. “If we fail to be united, the incidents of series bomb attacks simultaneously in 64 districts and Holey Artisan Attack may recur covertly”, they added. The rally was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Chittagong District chapter, Ashok Saha, journalist Kamrul Hasan Badal, Vice-President of Udichi Chittagong district Sangsad Sunil Dhar and President of Proma Recital Organisation Rashed Hasan. Convenor of YIAC Sharif Chowhan presided over the event.
