A team of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) led by its President Kamrul Abedin FCA will participate in SAFA Board Meeting, different committee meetings, and regional seminar on ‘enhancing public financial reporting to promote growth in SAR’ which jointly organised by ICA Sri Lanka and the World Bank from 3 to 5 November 2016 in Sri Lanka. Other members of the team are ICAB Vice President Mahmudul Hasan Khusru FCA, Council Member & Past Presidents Anwaruddin Chowdhury FCA , ASM Nayeem FCA, M Farhad Hussain FCA, Parveen Mahmud FCA, Council Members Md. Shahadat Hossain FCA, Dewan Nurul Islam FCA, fellow member Dr. Md. Abu Sayed Khan and Director (Technical) Mahbub Ahmed Siddique FCA. The inaugural ceremony of the Regional seminar series on ‘Enhancing Public Financial Reporting to Promote Growth in SAR’ and the ceremony of International Conference on ‘Implementation of IPSAS and Path to Accrual Accounting’ will be held on 03 November 2016 at Hotel Hilton, Colombo, Sri Lanka. During the conference and seminar SAFA Board meeting and different committee meetings will be held simultaneously on 3-5 November 2016 at the premises of CA Sri Lanka. South Asian Federation of Accountants(SAFA) is a forum of regional accounting bodies. Leaders, professional and members from these countries would participate in the conference.
Green University of Bangladesh
Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) has organised “Green 1st Intra University Cricket Tournament 2016” with a slogan of “Sports is Power” recently. Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice-Chancellor of GUB inaugurated the tournament on October 23 in the Indira Road Club Field. Eight departments of GUB played in two groups. There were 14 matches in the tournament. As a part of the tournament, three friendships matches were played among the teachers, officers and staff of GUB. The final match was held on 31 October and the Department of Electical and Electronic Engineering became the champion. The Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Golam Samdani Fakir was present as Chief Guest in the final match and awarded prizes among the winners. The students, teachers of the university and huge number of students of different Schools and Colleges witness the final match, says a press release.
BUET
The Centre for Energy Studies, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), with the support from German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and DFID, has organised a three-day long course on “Short Course Training on Energy Efficiency” at the seminar room of ICT, BUET from October 24, 2016. The objective of this course was to provide the professionals an insight into the importance, methodologies and financial benefits of implementing energy efficiency technologies, those engaged in fields of energy planning, design, power plant and distribution units. Twenty four participants from BPDB, BREB, DPDC, NWPGC, EGCB, DESCO, WZPDCL, APSCL and PGCB attended the short course. Md. Mahbubul Alam, ndc, Additional Secretary, Power Division, MOPEMR was present as the Chief Guest at the certificate giving ceremony. Prof. Dr. Aminul Hoque, Department ofEEE, BUET and Siddique Zobair, Zobair, Member (Joint Secretary), SREDA were present as the special guests in the event. Prof. Dr. Md. Zahurul Haq, Department of Mechanical Engineering, BUET, Mudabbir Bin Anam, Programme Coordinator, GIZ and M Roqibul Islam, Programme Manager, DFID Bangladesh also spoke in the session. Prof. Dr. Md. Ziaur Rahman Khan, Director, Centre for Energy Studies, BUET delivered the concluding remarks. The speakers emphasized on the importance of the energy efficiency for Bangladesh in their speeches. Md. Mahbubul Alam, ndc, distributed achievement of certificates among the participants.
