Rotary Club of Dhaka Royal
The second Installation ceremony of Rotary Club of Dhaka Royal was held with Dr Zeba Mahmud as Chief Guest recently.District Governor 2016-17 of Rotary International District 3281 was present as Guest of Honor. Past district governors Jalal U Ahmed,Magfur Uddin Ahmed, Selim Reza, AKM Shamsul Huda,Ishtiaq Zaman,SAM Showket Hussain,Governor elect F H Arif, Governor Nominee Abul Fazle Mohammad Alamgir graced the occasion along with other Rotary leaders and guests. Past District Governor Dr Mir Anisuzzaman, Country Director of Action Aid Farah Kabir,Charter President of the Club Shereen Anis, Club President Dr.Rezina Quddus,President Elect Tahmina Ahmed and Club Secretary Md.Zahid Hossain addressed the rotarians and guests. The club is involved in doing community development works in the country.
Daffodil International University
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of Daffodil International University (DIU) organised a workshop on Quality Teaching in Higher Education on the occasion of Teachers’ Day at its city campus premises on Wednesday. Prof Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Head, Quality Assurance Unit, UGC and former VC, Jagannath University was present as Chief Guest while Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Director, IQAC, DIU made a presentation as the key resource person where he highlighted the scope and ways of quality teaching at higher education institutes. Ms. Tanzina Hossain, Assistant Professor and Director, Academic (in-charge), Uttara Campus, DIU chaired the workshop. Prof. Dr. Bholanath Dutta, President, MTC Global, India; Prof. S. M. Kabir, Department of Marketing, University of Rajshahi and Prof. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain were present as Special Guest. At the same time, Professor Dr. Serajul Islam Pradhan, Director, IQAC, Dhaka International University was also present as Guest of Honor. Prof Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed praised the activities and efforts of IQAC of Daffodil International University as it has been doing international workshops, training faculty members including inductive, digital education, autistic, ILO, student’s love for motherland, research and extension. Prof. Dr. Bholanath Dutta, President, MTC Global, India handed over the ‘MTC Global Visionary in Education -2016 ‘ award to Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed. A book titled “Factors affecting entrepreneurial management in Bangladesh- an empirical analysis’ authored by Dr. Muhammad Mahaboob Ali, Director- IQAC, DIU and Dr. Vichayanan Rattanawiboonsom of Naresuan University, Thailand got released in the workshop.
University Grants Commission
A five-member delegation led by Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh left Dhaka for Australia October 2. The delegation will attend the inaugural session of professional training programme organized for the high officials form UGC, Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project and Education Ministry at Macquarie University, Australia. Others members of the delegation included Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali, Member, UGC, Mr. S.M. Ehsan Kabir, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Md. Khaled, Secretary, UGC and Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, Project Director (Additional Secretary), Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP). The Delegation will exchange views with the Vice-Chancellor and other high officials of Macquarie University on higher education of both the countries. It may be mentioned here that the professional training programme has been organised for the high officials form UGC, Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project and Education Ministry under Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Macquarie University, Australia and UGC
Green University of Bangladesh
The orientation programme of Fall Semester-2016 of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) for the newly enrolled students was held at the Green Auditorium of the University recently. The Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir presided over the program while Md. Shahid Ullah, Treasurer and Director of Student Affairs, Lt. Gen. Md. Mainul Islam , Registrar, Prof M.M. Khan, Adviser of Green Business School, Prof Dr. Golam Ahmed Faruqui, Dean, Green Business School, Professor Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering,Prof. Dr. Nitai Chandra Sutradhar, Advisor of Textile Department were present as special guests. The programme includes introduction session, presentation session and briefing session. The presentation session focused on academic systems and rules, advising and registration process, grading systems, result processing, necessary information about GUB, different clubs and co-curricular activities. At the outset, RegistrarLt. Gen. Md. Mainul Islam (LPR) highlighted the background of the University, progress of the construction work of GUB Permanent Campus, made the freshers aware of its rules and regulations and also focused on the university’s achievements by a nice PowerPoint Presentation.
VC of GUB Prof Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir welcomed the newly enrolled students and encouraged them to prepare themselves as global citizens. Chairpersons of different departments, faculty members, Controller of Examinations, Director of Account and Finance, Director of GUB Centers, guests and newly admitted students were present in the program.
