Samajtantrik Mahila Forum
A rally jointly organised by Samajtantrik Mahila Forum and Samajtantrik Chhatra Front was held in front of Jatiya Press Club on Friday. In the rally the speakers demanded exemplary punishment to the killers of children. They also called upon to ensure fundamental rights of children. The event was addressed, among others, by the member of central advisory council of Samajtantrik Mahila Forum Samsunnahar Joyotsona, president of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Dhaka city unit Ruksana Afroz Asha and member of the central committee of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal Zahedul Haque Milu. President of the organisation Raushan Ara Rusho presided over the programme.
Imarat Nirman Sramik Union-BD
The national convention of Imarat Nirman Sramik Union-Bangladesh was held in the auditorium of Engineers’ Institution in the city’s Ramna on Thursday. Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking the minister said the construction workers playing a key role in the post-war reconstruction of Bangladesh but their rights are not properly evaluated. He said the construction workers are not only building this nation but also earning a sizable amount of remittance from foreign countries. The minister said construction workers extended their supports to the government in 2014 and 2015, when the BNP-led alliance killed many in the name of their ‘democratic movement’. The convention was addressed, among others, by Fazle Hossain Badsha, MP and Nazmul Haque Prodhan, MP.
Commitment Cultural Academy
A discussion organised on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day by Commitment Cultural Academy was held on Wednesday at Sonargaon Hotel in the city. Land Minister and Language Movement veteran Shamsur Rahman Sharif was present as the chief guest. While speaking the minister said the Bangalee nationhood and movement for self-governance had emerged from the spirit of the Language Movement in 1952. ‘The Bangalee nation resisted a plot to destroy Bangla language giving misinterpretations of religion,’ he added. The minister said the spirit of Ekushey would not be allowed to be spoiled by criminals and wicked people. Presided over by Bangladesh Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mahfuzul Islam Ranju, the programme was addressed, among others, by Advocate Noorjahan Begum Mukta, MP and Language Movement veteran Dr Jasim Uddin Ahmed.
