Nagorik Chhatra Oikya
A human chain organised by Nagorik Chhatra Oikya was formed in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Tuesday. In the programme the leaders of the organisation demanded immediate release of Convenor of Nagorik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna. They also urged the government to ensure treatment facilities for the ailing leader Manna. The function was addressed, among others, by President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal ASM Abdur Rab, General Secretary of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal Khalequzzaman, Central member of Nagorik Oikya Shahidullah Kaiser, President of Oikyabaddha Chhatra Samaj Azam Rupu and students’ leader Reazul Islam Rihan. Convenor of Nagorik Chhatra Oikya Nazmul Hasan presided over the event.

A discussion organised by Sramik Karmachari Peshajibi Muktijoddha Samannoya Parishad, the coordination council for workers, employees, professions and freedom fighters was held recently at BCIC auditorium in the city’s Dilkusha Commercial Area. In the programme Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking Shajahan said those who have been patronizing and sheltering the militants would have to face justice soon. “Everybody should remain alert so that none can create militants and terrorists in the society. There would be no place for militancy in the sacred soil of Bangladesh. All should be united to uproot the militants and terrorists from the country,” he said. The function was also addressed, among others, by valiant freedom fighter Ismat Kadir Gama, Jatiya Sramik League leader Shahabuddin, Road Transport Workers leader Mokhlesur Rahman, Bank Employees Union leader Md Jainal Abedin and BIWTC employees leader Mohsin Bhuiyan.
