Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee
A discussion on the occasion of Shri Krishna’s Janmastami organised by Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee was held at Dhakeshwari Jatiya Mandir in the city on Saturday. In the programme the speakers demanded to ensure constitutional rights of the religious minorities. They also called upon all to be united to resist militancy and communalism. The function was addressed, among others, by former minister Suranjit Sengupta, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Principal of the city’s Ramakrishna Mission Swami Dhrubeshananda Maharaj, President and General Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Jayanta Sen Dipu & Advocate Taposh Kumar Pal respectively and General Secretary of the committee Advocate Shyamal Kumar Roy. President of the organisation DN Chatterjee presided over the event.
Bangladesh Non-Govt University Association
A discussion marking the National Mourning Day commemorating the 41st martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.organised by Bangladesh Non-Government University Association was held at Shawkat Osman Memorial auditorium of the Central Public Library in the city’s Shahbag on Saturday.
Awami League Advisory Council member and Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed was present as the chief guest. While speaking Tofail said BNP would not be able to thwart the country’s forward march through hatching conspiracy.”The country has been marching ahead under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina towards the goal of progress and prosperity as desired by Bangabandhu and Bangladesh would certainly march forward,” he said. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Chairman of the University Grants Commission Prof Dr Abdul Mannan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Asia Pacific University SM Shafi and Vice-Chancellor of World University Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury. President of the association Sheikh Kabir Hossain presided over the function.
