Bangladesh Students’ Union
A rally organised by Bangladesh Students’ Union (BSU), Palton Thana Sangsad was held at Naya Palton intersection in the city on Friday. In the rally the speakers bitterly criticized the killing of Afsana Ferdous. The leaders also urged the authority concerned to arrest the killer(s) of Afsana and give exemplary punishment to them. They called upon all the leaders and activists of the union to make the tomorrow’s Home Minister’s office gherao programme a success in favour of its demands. The rally was addressed, among others, by President of BSU, Dhaka Mahanagar Sangsad Anik Roy, its Vice-President Dipak Shil, Organizing Secretary Jawharlal Roy, President of BSU, Tejgaon College Sangsad Shamim Ahmed and Central leader of the Communist Party of Bangladesh Joly Talukdar. BSU General Secretary, Palton Thana Sangsad Nabibur Rahman conducted the rally while its.President Billal Hossain presided over the programme.  
Bangalee Sangskritik Jote
A discussion on National Mourning Day organised by Bangalee Sangskritik Jote was held at Shilpakala Academy in the city’s Segunbagicha on Friday. In the function the speakers called for strengthening the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to eliminate militancy and communalism to make Bangladesh as ‘Sonar Bangla’ dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The speakers said when the country is progressing fast, the killers of 1971 and 1975, the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami are carrying out killings in the name of militancy. They also said that self-confessed killers of Bangabandhu have been tried, but the planners of the killing are yet to be brought under the purview of justice. They called for forming a commission to unmask the plotters of the killing of 1975. The function was addressed, among others, by Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr.Hasan Mahmud, MP, Prof. Dr. Syed Anwar Hossain and Member Secretary of the organisation Abdul Matin Bhuiyan. Convener of the jote Saiful Azam Bashar presided over the programme.
