A memorial speech on the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was held yesterday at the UGC auditorium. UGC organised the memorial speech to mark the National Mourning Day. Dr. Mohammad Farashuddin, President, Board of Trustees, East West University and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank spoke on the occasion as the Memorial Speaker. UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan presided over the function. Dr. Mohammad Farashuddin said that Bangladesh did not emerge as an independent country if Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not born. Terming Bangabandhu as an uncompromising leader, he observed that Bangabandhu was the leader of the nation and he dedicated his life for the people of the country. He termed working with Bangabandhu as a Private Secretary excellent and memorable in his life.UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan called for taking lessons from life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Prof Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC, Md. Kamal Hossain, President of UGC Officers’ Association and Md. Anowar Hossain, President, UGC Karmachari Union spoke on the occasion. UGC Members Professor Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Prof Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Prof Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali, UGC Acting Secretary Md. Shamsul Alam, divisional heads and other officials, among others were present on the occasion, says a press release.
