Bangladesh Police Service Association expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Awami League Presidium Member and former Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun, MP. In a condolence message on Friday, President of the association and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam and the association’s General Secretary and Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zayedul Alam prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the members of the bereaved family. The message said the country’s first female Home Minister Sahara Khatun was elected lawmaker thrice from Dhaka-18 constituency. Imbued with the ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sahara Khatun struggled for realizing rights of the downtrodden people and strengthening democracy till her death, it added.
