In line with the worldwide programmes to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, The United States Postal Service (USPS) has taken an initiative to release pictorial postmark to glorify Bangabandhu’s birth centenary. Jackson Heights Post Office, in New York, will release the pictorial postmark on Bangabandhu’s upcoming birthday on March 17, responding to a request of a New York based Bangladeshi organization Muktadhara Foundation (MF), said a press release here today. The Stamp Fulfillment Services of the USPS has confirmed the matter through sending a message to MF’s Chief Executive Bishwajit Saha, saying that the pictorial postmark will be valid for 30 days from March 17, the release added. The postmark, however, will be available only at the Jackson Heights Post Office, it said.

Poet Rasel Asiki has received Samaresh Basu Sahitya Award for his poetry ‘Ekti Bhasan Ekti Desh’ (A speech and a country) published marking the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Former secretary and cultural personality Syed Margub Morshed handed over the award at a faction, organised by ‘Bishal Bangla Prokashani’ at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Auditorium of Jatiya Press Club here on Saturday.
