Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajote
A press conference organised by Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajote was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Friday. In the programme leaders of the mahajote urged the authority concerned to change the date of elections of Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation as Saraswati Puja, a religious festival of the Hindu community will be held on the same day (January 30). In the function spokesman of the organisation Palash Kannti Dey read out the written statement. The programme was attended, among others, by Vice-President of the mahajote DC Roy, Joint Secretary General Samir Sarker, its Organising Secretary Ashis Baroi, Chief Coordinator of Jagabandhu Juba Mahajote Pankaj Halder, President of Chhatra Mahajote Sajeeb Boidya and its General Secretary Partha Sarathi Roy. Acting President of the organisation Dr Provash Chandra Mondol presided over the event.

Leaders and activists of Communist Party of Bangladesh, Central Committee paid rich tributes to the forerunner of communist movement in the sub-continent and one of the organisers of the Liberation War Comrade Amal Sen by placing wreaths on his portrait on the premises of the party office in the city’s Purana Palton on Friday on the occasion of his seventeenth death anniversary. On the occasion President of the party Mujahidul Islam Selim said Amal Sen was one of the leaders in the communist movement. His struggle life will inspire us forever, Selim added. The function was attended, among others, by General Secretary of the party Mohammad Shah Alam and its Assistant General Secretary Sajjad Zahir Chandan.
