Bangladesh Hawkers Union
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers Union was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club. In the programme the leaders of the union demanded manifestoes of mayoral candidates of the two city corporation elections with a pledge not to evict hawkers without their rehabilitation. They also urged the mayoral candidates of the city corporation elections to make their election manifestoes with true commitment to give identity cards for the hawkers. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the union Sekendar Hayat and its Assistant General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Babul.Vice-President of the union Abul Kalam Azad presided over the event.
Jatiya Muktijoddha Foundation
A discussion on ‘Shoto Borshe Bangabandhu-2020’ organised by Jatiya Muktijoddha Foundation was held at the Jatiya Press Club. Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently. While speaking Jabbar said that the War of Liberation was the culmination of Bangabandhu’s lifelong struggle to establish a developed country. “Bangabandhu united the countrymen and psyched them to participate in the Liberation War. He was the organizer of the Liberation War in 1971”, Jabbar added. Stressing the need on adopting appropriate action plans and implementing them to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Jabbar said, “Bangabandhu’s birth centenary in 2020 and the Golden Jubilee of independence in 2021 are considered to be the years of celebrations for the entire nation”.
