Condemning the rape of DU student that took place in city’s Kurmitola area , Dhaka University Teachers’Association demanded capital punishment for the rapists. “We are extremely upset and disappointed hearing such shocking incident, we want capital punishment for the rapists and all the culprits, said a statement of the association signed on Monday by its President ASM Maksud Kamal and General Secretary Nizamul Haque Bhuyan.”We have noticed with grave concern that rape is becoming a social menace as justice has not been ensured in previous rape incidents due to lack of proper investigation,” said the statement. The statement said if rape culture would not be rooted out from the society, it will turn into a social epidemic that can be a threat for the country as well as the nation. In the statement, they also urged people from all strata of life to work together in preventing rape across the country.
