Bam Ganotantrik Jote
A meeting organised by Bam Ganotantrik Jote was held at its temporary office in the city’s Purana Palton on Sunday. In the function the leaders of the jote bitterly criticized attack on Vice President of Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haque Nur and his supporters. They also demanded immediate arrest and trial of those involved in this heinous crime. The programme was attended, among others, by leaders of the jote Comrade Shah Alam, Comrade Saiful Haque, Comrade Bazlur Rashid Firoz, Prof Abdus Sattar, Comrade Sazzad Zahir Chandan and Shahidul Islam Sabuj. Coordinator of Bam Jote Abdullah Al Kafi Ratan presided over the event.
National Domestic Women Workers Union
A rally organised by National Domestic Women Workers Union was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in observance of International Day Against Violence on Women. In the programme held recently the leaders of the union demanded formulation of law to stop violence on domestic helps immediately. They also demanded to form inspection team to review the state of domestic helps for ensuring their welfare. The leaders of the union called upon all to be united against the repression on women domestic workers at home and abroad. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the union Murshida Akhter Nahar, labour leader Abul Hosain, domestic workers’ leaders Setara Begum and Shaheena Begum, leader of garment employees Alamgir Roni and youth leader Manik Hawlader.
