Speakers at a programme in the city said that Michael Madhusudan Dutta will always be remembered in the history of Bengali literature and he was the pioneer of sonnet and rhymes in Bengali literature. Bangla Academy organised the virtual discussion recently marking the 198th birth anniversary of poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta. Michael Madusudan Dutta was born on January 25, 1824 at Sagardari, Jashore. Bangla Academy Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda presided over the programme while Madhusudan researcher Kashru Parvez gave a welcome address. Bangla Academy Secretary AHM Lokman and Additional Cultural Secretary Hashna Jahan Khanam were present as guest of honour on the occasion.
