Awami Swechchhasebak League
Awami Swechchhasebak League inaugurated tree plantation campaign responding to the call of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Awami League Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain inaugurated the programme recently by planting a sapling at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan (close to Ramna Kali temple gate). Addressing on the occasion, he said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman created the Suhrawardy Udyan by planting a coconut sapling on July 16 in 1972. Development works are underway at the Udyan to present the history and heritage of the nation’s struggle for independence as well as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who had created the Udyan, he said. The function was also addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the organisation AKM Afzalur Rahman Babu, its Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Ahmed Ullah Jewel. President of the organisation Nirmal Ranjan Guha presided over the event
