Awami Swechchhasebak League
A discussion organized by Awami Swechchhasebak League was held in the auditorium of the Jatiya Press Club marking Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Homecoming Day. AL Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim was present as the chief guest in the programme held on Monday. While speaking Bahauddin Nasim said that Sheikh Hasina appeared as the beacon of unity of AL on her Homecoming Day on May 17, 1981. “She (Hasina) came to awaken and unite the people of Bangladesh…If she hadn’t returned that day, we would not have been able to come to this stage,” Nasim said. “40 years ago, there was a terrible misery in the national life and political life of Bangladesh. There was no democracy in the country. The Father of the Nation was killed along with his family, our four national leaders were killed.” Nasim said recalling the horrifying events of the past. Referring Sheikh Hasina as essential for Bangladesh, he said that even after Bangabandhu’s daughter became the president of AL.The function was also attended, among others, by Co-president of the organisation Gazi Mejbaul Hossain Sachchu, its Joint General Secretary Mobasher Chowdhury and Office Secretary Azizul Haque Aziz. President of the organisation Nirmal Ranjan Guha presided over the event.
